Not terrible, just outclassed in front of the camera. A critical success but box office bomb upon release, time has been kind to the film. For Mr. A whirlwind of techniques, injecting a hypodermic needle of style into the marrow of the stories substance. This is a unique work that has rightfully found a cult following and along with its emergency services counterpart Mother, Jugs and Speed will continue to surprise with its gritty smiles and rule breaking spectacle.

You make me sick. The frequency with which Frank keeps running into the same characters seems a bit contrived, as if the entire novel takes place on one city block rather than a district of several miles, cluttered with people.

Oct 09, Dr. Detroit rated it really liked it. Joe Connelly's first novel is powerful stuff, definitely not for the faint of heart or those predisposed to depression. Frank Pierce is a downtrodden EMS medic whose world is rocked by the ghost of a girl he helped to kill and the memory of his ex-wife, who couldn't handle the afterburn.

Connelly's prose is red-hot - he doesn't so much write as he does attack the beast - it leaps at your spine and pulverizes it, like being inside of a jet engine. He gets in and gets out, spinning EMS shop talk Joe Connelly's first novel is powerful stuff, definitely not for the faint of heart or those predisposed to depression. He gets in and gets out, spinning EMS shop talk that's all red meat and arteries bursting wide open and grey matter boiling in flame.

A former New York City medic, Connelly knows of what he speaks, and doesn't sugarcoat any facet of Frank's world, which seems to begin and end with the bottle as he tries to drink away the trail of broken bodies his occupation brings to his doorstep. He's got the goods, the bads, and plenty of the uglies. Oct 07, N. I gave this book 4 stars upon finishing but I'm changing it to 5 stars because it won't let go of me.

The story of a burned-out paramedic working for a private ambulance service in New York's Hell's Kitchen, Bringing Out the Dead is about burnout, addiction, and the ghosts paramedics carry with them.

Beautifully written, deeply affecting, sometimes graphic and more than a little scary. You will come out of the reading feeling a little nervous about whether or not the people charged with keeping I gave this book 4 stars upon finishing but I'm changing it to 5 stars because it won't let go of me.

You will come out of the Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Dead feeling a little nervous about whether or not the people charged with keeping you alive are okay because pretty much all of the characters in this book are a little crazy. But, it will also make you think about life and death and where the medical establishment should draw the line when it comes to resuscitation. Oct 29, Nate Hendrix rated it really liked it.

A book written by a paramedic for paramedics. This is the best I have ever read about my proffesion. I know we have all felt the way the main character does from time to time. I have read that Joe Connelly's next book was Where Did Our Love Go - Sinitta - Naughty Naughty very good and I don't think he has written anything else.

I loved the Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Deadbut nonems didn't get it. Bringing out the dead is like a joke you have to explain. Either you get it or I can't explain it to you. Oct 04, Lori rated it really liked it Shelves: fiction. Makes me a little afraid to get sick and call I saw this movie when it first came out, and liked it. Had to order this book used online in order to read it. And really liked the book as well.

It was interesting. Mar 05, William rated it it was amazing Shelves: must-readstars. Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Dead book and under-rated movie. Jan 06, Katie Nelson rated it liked it. Bringing Out the Dead by Joe Connelly is a well-written Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Dead interesting book. The book shows how constant job stress can take a negative toll on mental health. Frank has been through a lot in his life, and the death and destruction he sees on a daily basis is taking a toll on his mental health.

His job cost him his wife, who Deliverance - X A Decade Of. saw as the only light in his life.

As Frank continues to push through his burn-out, he starts to drink more and care less about his job. He can only focus on getting through the day. With Frank drinking more and sleeping less he starts to get hallucinations of the people who died, seeing them dying over and over again in his head and seeing them walking around as he drives around to his next call.

While the book was very well-written and was captivating at the start, it was a very sad book that ultimately stayed the same throughout. It never really had a conclusion or an ending, and it was sad throughout. The author did a very good job, however, illustrating the struggle of his character Frank. Joe Connelly being a former EMT himself made his writing incredibly realistic. He was able to bring Until The End - E-Type - Made In Sweden scene to life with his writing and made it interesting and captivating to read.

My only complaint is with the storyline itself, since the writing was done extremely well. The author never really had Frank develop as a character, he stayed the same throughout the story. His character started the story unhappy and burned out from his years of work, and he ended the story the same way. He never overcame his struggles or found a way to resolve Things We Said Today - The Beatles - The Beatles Box Set, making the story mostly bland and sad throughout.

So, while the writing was very good and well-written, the storyline was sad Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Dead bleak. Dec 26, Anton Babych rated it liked it. Book has an interesting premise, charismatic characters. The aura of the narrative is dark and hopeless, but you just can't resist it. The big problem though is that the characters never develop. They go places, they do stuff, and yet they stay the same, they don't progress or degrade, they don't change.

So i just became numb to the Book has an interesting premise, Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Dead characters. So i just became numb to the "big finale" and that is what negatively affected my experience Oct 14, Andrew rated it liked it. This book succeeded in making me more afraid of ambulance drivers. Perhaps the only thing scarier is the medical bills that these people will have! While I mostly enjoyed the ride, after awhile, all of the crazy, random, chaotic stories became a bit numbing.

Sep 04, Kim Ess rated it it was amazing Shelves: Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Dead. This book blew my mind! It's not for everyone but I could relate to this story because I have family members in the emergency medicine and rescue field. I know how hard it is and 's Hell's Kitchen was a nightmare.

I remember the area well back then and it was full of hookers and junkies. A bad place to be. I'm sure there is a lot of truth to this story even though the characters are fictional.

I Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Dead put it down. Feb 04, Connor Bounds rated it really liked it. One of the more favorite books on my shelf. Saw the movie in the mids. It helped push me toward EMS. Now as a slightly older paramedic, I somewhat take offense to the fact that it paints many providers as alcoholics Father Frankpsychotics Major Tomor religious nutjobs Marcus.

Oct 24, Brock rated it it was ok. This is just a story, like a long winded run-on sentence. There doesn't seem to be a point to it ooutside of a day in the life of an ambulance driver. Almost like it's supposed to be a biography. I can't do better, not saying that. It just wasn't my kind of fiction.

Nov 11, Jarett rated it liked it. I read the first half Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Dead carefully and skimmed through it the rest - the movie did the book justice.

Mar 11, Chris rated it it was amazing. This book is just right. It's Eurufos (European UFOs) - Out Of Orion - The UFO Theories: Debunked! written and packs a punch.

The Heart Of The Wilderness - Docetism - Seclusion (File) are vivid and memorable, and I can feel the rush, the speed, the stakes, and the dread.

It's wild and cohesive. May 23, Stephenie McGee rated it liked it. I really enjoyed the majority of the stories in this book. The beginning was really exciting and sucked me in.

I think that I was only slightly disappointed with the ending, and the core Winchester Cathedral - Various - On The Rocks Part One was a little flat.

Sep 18, Bridgette Connelly rated it really liked it. I really liked this narrative, it provides a glimpse into what EMS does, and it is both heroic and haunting. Mar 16, Stephanie rated it Eyes Front - Critical Madness - Bringing Out The Dead was ok. Just wasn't what I expected it to be. Joe Connelly, ex-medic, wrote Bringing Out the Dead based on his own experiences.
